Dan has spent the past thirty years exploring the outdoors. During his military career, he was deployed to the Balkans, East Africa and the Middle East; and as a Mountain Leader led expeditions around the world. He was awarded several British Army Commendations during his service.
Dan has extensive experience in Event Management and has personally run challenges for many high-profile organisations. He holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Humanitarian Response; and has been awarded certificates in Health and Safety and Medical Planning. Dan thrives on working closely with our clients; ensuring they achieve their aims through a rigorous approach to planning and delivery
John is Challenge The Wild XL's Well-being Director. He is General Practitioner based in the Lake District and has interests in sports and expedition medicine. He serves as a Medical Officer in the Army Reserve, a role which has seen him travel extensively on deployments and exercises.
John is keen fell runner, avid hiker and long-distance cyclist. He has a passion for the outdoors and is never happier than when leading others and supporting the rest of the team during expeditions or challenges. He also subscribes to the benefits the outdoors can bring to a person's mental health and works closely with all the instructors on mental health awareness and participant management.
Challenge Leader and Guide
Paddy holds the Mountaineering Instructor’s Certificate, the highest UK certificate available. He has completed 14 first ascents of peaks in the northern Himalayas and, as an Expedition Leader, has taken clients out trekking and climbing all over the world.
Challenge Mental Health First Aider
Paul served in the Merchant Navy for 39 years. During his extensive travels all over the world, he has studied many techniques on helping people overcome their fears and anxieties to achieve their goals. He provides mental health support on many events.
Challenge Manager and Guide
Ben served as an Army Officer in the Royal Artillery, a role which has seen him travel extensively. He is a Mountain Leader; first aid qualified and has significant knowledge in event management. Ben thrives on helping others to achieve their goals
Dale is a former Army Physical Training Instructor, Royal Marines Commando and British Army Physiotherapy Officer. He is a CrossFit enthusiast and an adventure athlete. He supports CTW XL on many high-profile expeditions

Having been injured whilst serving in the British Army, Ben is passionate about sharing his story and achievements, to encourage others that although you may have a disability, it's the ability to go beyond that makes a difference.
Technical Leader and Event Guide
Joe is predominately a scrambling, rock climbing and abseiling instructor, but also leads groups in the technical ghylls and canyons of the UK and Europe. He has a passion for the outdoors and the benefits it brings.
